Citrus Inspired Wedding - The Styled Event - C & A Event Planning - Wedding Planning & Floral Design Boutique

Recently we had the pleasure of meeting Nichole Lauren of Nichole Lauren Photography and The Styled Event. Shortly after our first encounter we had the opportunity to collaborate with Nichole for a styled shoot with The Styled Event. Nichole discussed the overall vision, theme and goal of the event and we agreed to come aboard as the table designer. It was a blast to bring this vision to life and breathe life into a joyful theme. First of all, I love color and details — second, design is my love language.

A citrus-inspired wedding theme is a vibrant and refreshing choice that can bring a burst of color and zest to your celebration. After discussing the design, theme and overall vision, my first focus is the color palette. For a citrus inspired wedding it is important to incorporate shades of orange, lemon yellow, lime green, and grapefruit pink. Citrus is the epitome of bright and cheerful, right?

Nichole had already selected a stunning venue, Aurora Farms. [Aurora Farms is located in Taylors, South Carolina and is a family run business that offers a variety of options that make planning less overwhelming, from venue only to custom packages for almost every budget.] But if you wanted to try your hand at a citrus wedding theme – you should choose a venue that complements the citrus theme. Options could include citrus groves, gardens, or bright and airy spaces. Nichole develop styled shoot concepts that highlighted various aspects of a wedding, such as the ceremony, reception, and couple portraits. We incorporated citrus elements into the styling, decor, and overall ambiance.

Citrus fruits were incorporated into the table centerpieces and place card holders. We also decorated the cake with citrus slices.

The stationary and paper details also extended the citrus theme with citrus illustrations, colors, and patterns. If you wanted to go a step further — you could create playful signs using phrases like “Squeeze the Day” or “Citrus Kisses.” You could also create directional signs with phrases like “Follow the Citrus Love.”

A few other ways to incorporate citrus –

With cooling citrus treats: Offer refreshing citrus treats like citrus sorbets, lemon bars, or orange-infused desserts to keep guests cool.

Maybe you want to consider a citrus-flavored wedding favor, such as citrus-shaped cookies or citrus-infused jams.

You can also incorporate Citrus-Themed Photo Opportunities:

Create citrus-themed photo backdrops for guests to capture memorable moments.
Consider using oversized citrus props or signs with playful citrus-related phrases.

Remember to balance the citrus elements with neutral tones to create a harmonious overall look. This theme offers a lively and joyful atmosphere, making it perfect for spring or summer weddings.

Regardless of the theme, the goal of a style shoot is to collaborate with vendors to ensure a cohesive vision and seamless execution. Following the style shoot, it is important that the photographers create a cohesive compilation that tells a story of the citrus-inspired content day (spoiler alert: they all did!).
