While I’m currently enjoying some much-needed vacation time, I couldn’t resist sharing a standout moment from our memorable 2017 summer season. Esther and Jake’s wedding day remains etched in my memory as a truly unforgettable celebration—a fusion of tradition, love, education, and family ties that left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to be a part of it.
Esther and Jake’s love story began several years ago at a summer camp, where their paths first crossed and their journey together began. As they embarked on the adventure of planning their wedding, we had the privilege of assisting them with both the planning and coordination of their special day.
On a beautiful Sunday, July 9th, we found ourselves at Gilbertsville Farmhouse, where Esther was preparing to exchange vows with the love of her life. The air was buzzing with excitement as we immersed ourselves in the intricate logistics of the day—a testament to the meticulous planning and attention to detail that Esther and Jake had poured into their wedding preparations.
One of the most poignant moments of the day was witnessing Esther and Jake incorporate their Jewish backgrounds into their ceremony. Following the tradition of not seeing each other for seven days before the wedding, they began with the Tisch and Bedekin—an ancient custom steeped in meaning and symbolism that served as a poignant prelude to their union.
But the thread of tradition didn’t end there—it wove seamlessly throughout the ceremony and into the heart of the reception, infusing every moment with depth, meaning, and reverence for the legacy of their heritage.
As I reflect on Esther and Jake’s wedding day, I am struck by the profound beauty of their love story and the richness of the traditions that shaped their celebration. It was a day filled with laughter, tears, and joyous celebration—a testament to the enduring power of love to unite hearts and create lasting memories.
Here’s to Esther and Jake, and to the countless couples who infuse their weddings with meaning, tradition, and love. May your journey together be as beautiful and enduring as the love that brought you together on this special day.
